Minister's Bio My name is Jim Starke. I have been successfully
self-employed for over 30 years, as a
carpenter, a manufacturer and web developer,
among other things. In about 2002 I was
introduced to the now Center for Spiritual
Living St. Augustine, Florida and I knew I was home.
For the first time, I had found a group of
"like-minded" people. I
am presently a licensed
Minister and Spiritual Counselor with the
International Centers for Spiritual Living.
I grew up a
Congregationalist, though I have always been
seeking something more. I attended Lutheran school when
I was a child and partook of their
ceremonies, attended Synagogue and
Catholic services as a young adult with
friends. I saw the commonalities in all of
these different faiths. I studied other
religions in college as part of my major,
History, and never understood why so many
people died over the belief in the same God.
Nor was I able to believe that a loving God
could also be a vengeful God. So though I
believed in something, I couldn't justify
the duality that most religions placed on
this God. Neither could I fathom the
existence of the antithesis of an
Omnipotent, Omnipresent, and Omniscient God.
If God is everything, It has no opposite.
While I totally believe
that all religions lead one to God, I have
found that Science of Mind® does it in a
conscious, loving, responsible, and abundant
way. All of the "New Age" buzz words
come from the philosophy, from "The Secret",
to the "Law of Attraction", but they are not
it. It is a lifetime path to walk. It is a
teaching to be lived and breathed, embodied
in every way. The greater we live it, the
more we realize our eternality, our Oneness
with Spirit.
Jesus said, "these
things I do, you shall do and even greater!"
We are each of us individualizations of the
Divine, and there is never any separation
except by our own exclusion of the Infinite
from our own lives.
Although I've
only been in this teaching since 2002, my
mantra has always been, "I may not be
perfect, but I'm way ahead of whatever is in
second place." I now know why, and I've
learned the Truth. If
